4 Easy Skincare Tips to Transition from Summer to Fall

Colder months can often result in dryness, breakouts, and a general lackluster appearance but you can keep your glow by changing up your routine. Follow these simply tips to fall into the best skincare routine for the drier season!

Exfoliate - Skin cell turnover slows as we age, resulting in a buildup of dead skin cells. Over time, this buildup can cause skin to diffuse light, resulting in a dull complexion. Add an exfoliating cleanser to your routine to polish your way to radiant skin and remove any dry patches caused by colder weather. Dry skin from colder weather often leads to an excess of dead skin cells that can congest your pores and exfoliating is the best way to remove those dead skin cells that make your skin look lackluster and dry.

Incorporate a facial oil - Fall means your moisturizer might not be enough to hydrate your skin. Incorporate a facial oil (for acne-prone skin, try rosehip, jojoba, olive, grapeseed oil). Make sure that your oil is not comedogenic (you can check if your particular product has pore-clogging ingredients here).

Do not skip the sunscreen - Don't ditch your sunscreen just because the weather is colder. Sunscreen is still a crucial part of any skincare routine. Why? Sun damage is one of the top factors of skin damage like age spots, discoloration, and fine lines.

Change your Cleanser - Fall and winter is a good time to start washing with a richer, thicker cleanser. This is probably the most important thing you can do for your skin. Sweat and activity in the summertime often call for a more clarifying cleanser while fall and winter hibernation demand that you choose a creamy, hydrating cleanser. If you’re finding that your summertime cleanser is feeling a bit too harsh, look for something that will leave your skin more moisturized.
